Creating a fax coversheet in Word 95
Posted on April 8, 2025
Before email ruled the world, fax machines were the kings of office communication—and the fax cover sheet was your handshake. It was that top sheet you’d slap on before sending a fax, loaded with info like who it’s for, who it’s from, and what it’s about. Real simple, but crucial. Fax tech dates back to the 1960s, but it didn’t blow up in offices until the '80s when machines got cheaper and faster. By the mid-'90s, you couldn’t walk into a corporate office without hearing that sweet dial-up tone followed by a grind of paper. Some cover sheets were handwritten, some were pre-printed, and later you had those Microsoft Word templates in the ’90s that made everything look “official.” It wasn’t fancy—but it got the job done.
