Write a letter with the help of Clippy… er, I mean Rover!

Microsoft Bob dropped in March 1995, and let’s be real—it was one of Microsoft’s weirdest plays. It was supposed to make Windows easier by throwing a cartoonish interface over it, complete with a dog named Rover and a bunch of “rooms” you’d click through instead of menus. The idea? Help new users feel less intimidated by their PC. But Bob flopped—hard. People hated the clunky design, it needed way too much RAM for the time, and it just didn’t click. It barely lasted a year, with no real updates past the initial release before it quietly vanished. But here’s the kicker: even though Bob was a failure, it planted the seeds for stuff like Clippy and today’s digital assistants. So yeah, Bob was a punchline—but it was also ahead of its time.
