Sierra On-Line was the king of PC adventure games back in the ‘80s and ‘90s, turning home computers into story machines before most people even had the internet. Founded in 1979 by Ken and Roberta Williams, Sierra cranked out hits like King’s Quest (1984), Space Quest (1986), Police Quest (1987), and Leisure Suit Larry (1987), each new release pushing graphics and storytelling a little further with every version upgrade—EGA to VGA, floppy disks to CD-ROMs. By the early 2000s, Sierra’s spark faded after corporate buyouts and the rise of 3D gaming, but for anyone who grew up typing commands like “look around” or swapping out 5.25-inch disks mid-game, Sierra wasn’t just software—it was the start of getting lost in a digital world.
