Mosaic Browser 1 dropped in January 1993 and basically lit the fuse for the modern web. Before Mosaic, the internet was all text and command lines—zero vibes. Mosaic 1.0 flipped that by letting people actually see images inline with text instead of downloading them separately, which was mind-blowing back then. NCSA kept pushing updates fast—1.1 in March ‘93, 1.2 that summer, and 2.0 by the end of the year—each version getting faster, adding bookmarks, and improving stability. This was the browser that convinced normal people the web was worth exploring, and it sparked the chain reaction that would lead to Netscape, Internet Explorer, and basically the internet as we know it.
