Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - Fall of the Foot Clan for the Nintendo Game Boy (1990)

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Fall of the Foot Clan dropped in 1990 for the original Game Boy, and for a lot of kids, it was the first time they could take the Turtles on the go. Konami kept it simple—five side-scrolling stages, pick your favorite Turtle, and smash through waves of Foot Soldiers, Mousers, and classic bosses like Bebop, Rocksteady, and Shredder. Lose a Turtle and he’s captured, but you could rescue him in bonus stages, which felt huge back then. No fancy sequels or remakes hit the Game Boy, but this was the first entry in a short trilogy that defined portable TMNT gaming in the early ’90s. It’s pure, straightforward nostalgia—8-bit sprites, chiptune music, and that feeling of playing under the covers with the worm light plugged in.
