WordPerfect 6 for DOS dropped in 1993 and was a big deal because it gave hardcore DOS users a reason not to jump ship to Windows just yet. It brought WYSIWYG editing (what you see is what you get) to a text-based world, added scalable fonts, and even let you work with tables without pulling your hair out. This was Corel’s power move to keep WordPerfect relevant after Microsoft Word started eating market share. Version 6.1 came later in 1994 with bug fixes and performance tweaks, but the reality was clear: DOS was on life support, and everyone was heading to Windows 3.1. Still, if you were rocking WordPerfect 6 back then, you had a beast of a word processor that made you feel like you could publish a magazine from your basement.
