MS-DOS 6.22 Anti-Virus
Posted on October 1, 2025
MS-DOS 6.22, released in June 1994, was basically the last big standalone version of Microsoft’s classic Disk Operating System before Windows took over. It refined what 6.0 and 6.2 started—better memory management with HIMEM and EMM386, the built-in disk compression tool DoubleSpace (later DriveSpace because of a lawsuit), and utilities like SCANDISK to keep your drives healthy. By 6.22, it was as stable and feature-packed as DOS ever got, running everything from early Windows 3.1 to those shareware games you snagged off floppy disks. If you were messing with CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT back then, 6.22 was your playground.
